ႏိုင္ငံတကာ တကၠသိုလ္ေတြမွာ တက္ေရာက္ပညာသင္ၾကားလုိတယ္ဆုိယင္

ႏိုင္ငံတကာ ပညာေရးဆုိင္ရာသတင္းအခ်က္အလက္ေတြကို တတ္ႏိုင္သေလာက္မွ်ေ၀လိုပါတယ္။
ျပန္တြင္းက တခ်ိဳ ႔ျမန္မာလူငယ္ေတြ ႏိုင္ငံတကာတကၠသိုလ္ကိုသြားျပီး  ပညာသင္ယူလုိၾကေပမယ့္
အေၾကာင္းအမ်ိဳးမ်ိဳးေၾကာင့္ အဆင္မေျပၾကတာကိုေတြ႔ရေတာ့စိတ္မေကာင္းပါဘူး။အရည္အျခင္းရွိ
ၾကေပမယ့္ ေငြေၾကးမတတ္ႏုိင္လုိ႔ လက္ေလွ်ာ့လုိက္ရတာေတြကိုေတြ႔ရျပန္ေတာ့ပိုျပီးစိတ္မေကာင္း
ျဖစ္ရပါတယ္။
တကယ္ေတာ့    ႏို္င္ငံတကာတကၠသိုလ္တုိင္းကိုတက္တိုင္းေငြေၾကးအေျမာက္အျမားကုန္က်တာမ
ဟုတ္ၾကပါဘူး။သိသူေဖၚစားမသိသူေက်ာ္လႊားဆုိသလုိမသိလို႔သာလူငယ္ေတြရဲ့ေမွ်ာ္လင့္ခ်က္ေတြ
ကိုအေကာင္အထည္မေဖၚႏိုင္ၾကတာပါ။တခ်ိဳ႔တကၠသိုလ္ေတြဆိုယင္ေငြေၾကးအေျမာက္အျမားကုန္
က်ခံျပီး ႏုိင္ငံတကာက ေက်ာင္းသားေတြကို လာပါ သင္ယူလွည့္ပါလုိ႔ေခၚေနပါတယ္။
ေနာ္ေ၀ႏုိင္ငံက ဘာဂင္ တကၠသိုလ္ဆိုယင္ တႏွစ္ကိုအနည္းဆံုး ႏုိင္ငံတကာက ေက်ာင္းသားေပါင္း သံုးေထာင္ေက်ာ္ေလာက္ပံုမွန္လာေရာက္သင္ယူေနၾကပါတယ္။ကမၻာ့ထိပ္တန္းစာရင္း၀င္တကၠသိုလ္
တခုျဖစ္တာမုိ႔ဒီတကၠသိုလ္ေတြက   ထြက္လာတဲ့ေက်ာင္းသားေတြဟာ ကမၻာ့ဘယ္ေနရာမာမဆို ၀င္
ဆန္႔ပါတယ္။
ဒါေၾကာင့္ဒီတကၠသိုလ္ကုိတက္ႏိုင္ဖုိ႔ဘာေတြလုိအပ္တယ္၊ဘယ္လုိအရည္အျခင္းေတြႏွင့္ျပည္စံုဖုိ႔လုိ
တယ္ဆိုတာေတြကို က်ေနာ္ေဆြးေႏြးသြားပါမယ္။
ဘာဂင္တကၠသိုလ္ကိုတက္ႏိုင္ဖုိ႔အတြက္ ပထမဆံုးကိုယ့္ႏုိင္ငံက ဘြဲ႔တခုခုကုိရထားဖုိ႔လုိပါတယ္။ျပီး
ေတာ့ ႏိုင္ငံတကာအဆင့္မီစစ္ေဆးတဲ့ အဂၤလိပ္စာ အရည္အေသြးစစ္စာေမးပြဲတခုခုေအာင္ထားျပီး
သူျဖစ္ရပါမယ္။မာစတာအဆင့္ကိုတက္ရမွာျဖစ္လုိ႔အဂၤလပ္စာအေရးအသား အေျပာ ေကာင္းဖို႔လုိ
တယ္ဆုိတာေတာ့အထူးေျပာဖုိ႔လိုမယ္မထင္ပါဘူး။

English Language Requirements

Non-native English speakers must document their English language proficiency in order to be considered for admission to Master's degree programmes at the University of Bergen.
  • TOEFL - Test of English as a Foreign Language:
    • minimum score 500 for a paper-based test
    • minimum score 170 for a computer-based test
    • minimum score 60 for an Internet-based test
  • IELTS - British Council's International English Language Testing Service:
    • minimum score 5.0
  • APIEL - Advanced Placement International English Language examination:
    • minimum score 3
  • MELAB - Michigan English Language Assessment Battery:
    • minimum score 85
  • University of Cambridge examinations:
    • First Certificate in English
    • Certificate in Advanced English
    • Certificate of Proficiency in English
The test results should not be more than 2 years old and should be sent to us directly by the test centres.

Academic requirements
Applicants must normally have obtained an undergraduate/Bachelor's degree of 4 years' duration, or have an equivalent educational background.
The degree must include courses equalling at least 1 - 1 1/2 years of full-time studies in a subject relevant to that of the programme applied for.
At least 2nd Class, Upper Division/B, or the equivalent is normally required to be considered for admission.
Please note that some Master's degree programmes may have additional admission requirements specific to their programme. Please refer to the website of each programme for more information.
English language proficiency
A documented
proficiency in English is required for admission.
Financial requirements
Applicants who are not EU/EEA citizens must provide
documentation of financing.

Master's degree programmes

The University of Bergen has established a number of 2-year Master's degree programmes taught in English. An updated list of programmes offered will be available from the beginning of October.
Please note that some programmmes are not offered every year.
New students are admitted every second year to the programmes in Health Promotion and Anthropology of Development (2012, 2014, etc) and Gender and Development (2011, 2013, etc).

Please note that subjects NOT offered at the University of Bergen include:

  • Agriculture
  • Architecture
  • Business Administration and Accounting
  • Veterinary Science
  • Law studies: The Faculty of Law deals predominantly with the Norwegian legal system, and the professional degree is intended to train lawyers to work in Norway. Law studies require a very good command of the Norwegian language.

Submit the online application form

The online application form is available on our website from
11 October to 1 December

Once you submit the online application form, you will receive an application receipt by e-mail which must be printed, signed, and returned within the deadline with the required documents. Please read ALL the information in the application receipt before you return it to our office.

Submit the required documents

Applicants complete their application by posting the required documents as soon as possible and not later than 15 December (postmarked by 15 December):
  1. Application receipt (signed by applicant)
  2. Secondary School certificate
  3. Transcript of records (an official statement listing courses/subjects you have completed at your university)
  4. University degree certificate(s)/diploma(s)
  5. Documentation of English language proficiency
  6. Relevant work experience (if applicable)
  7. Personal statement (your motivation for applying)
  8. Recommendation letter(s)/references (personal statement from academic adviser/employer or equivalent)
  9. Documentation of financing (non EU/EEA applicants)
  10. Copy of your passport showing full name, date of birth, and photograph
  • Specific requirements for the programme(s) applied for (some Master's programmes may have additional admission requirements specific to their programme)

Insufficient information/documentation

Please note that you will not be considered for admission if:
  • You have not given sufficient information as to your academic background
  • You do not provide satisfactory documentation of the financing of your studies
  • Your application is not postmarked by the given deadline
We do not accept scanned documents. All documents, including the application receipt, should be sent by regular post. All copies must be certified (stamped, signed and dated) by the issuing institution or by a Notary Public.

Please note: If you are also applying for the Quota Scheme, you should send both application receipts together with only one copy of the required/supporting documents.

Application Period

11 October to 1 December
  • Applicants submit the online application form by 1 December.
  • Applicants submit the required application documents to Student Services by post by 15 December.

Registration of Applications

1 December to 1 February
  • Student Services registers the applications. 
  • Please note that we do not have the capacity to confirm receipt of your application until they have been registered and will not reply to e-mails regarding the receipt of the applications in this period.
By the middle of February
  • All applicants will receive an e-mail confirming the receipt of their application.

Offer of Admission

By the middle of April
  • Student Services e-mails and sends Letters of Acceptance to accepted applicants.
  • We will also e-mail all applicants who are not offered admission by the end of April.

Acceptance of the Offer of Admission

By 1 May
  • Accepted applicants return the form “Declaration - Confirmation of Acceptance” by fax (+47 55 58 90 25) or e-mail (master@uib.no) to accept the offer of admission.

Preparation for Your Stay

By 15 May
As soon as possible and before you apply for a residence permit

Documentation of financing

The University of Bergen is a publicly funded state university, and therefore has no tuition fees, however, self-financing applicants must have financial means to cover living expenses during their stay in Norway, which amounts to NOK 90.800 for the academic year 2011/2012 (10 months)
Applicants who are not EU/EEA citizens must enclose proof of sufficient financing (a minimum of NOK 90.800 for the academic year 2011/2012) with their application to the University of Bergen. Applicants who cannot submit such documentation will not be considered for admission, regardless of academic qualifications.

Valid forms of documentation:

  • Financing provided by applicant: Enclose a recent bank statement in your name showing possession of the required amount
  • Financing provided by sponsor: Enclose a letter from the sponsor(s) that they are willing to transfer the required amount if you are admitted, in addition to a recent bank statement in your sponsor’s name showing possession of the required amount

Residence permit and financing

Once admitted, students/sponsors must transfer money into a deposit account established by the Student Welfare Organisation (SiB) with a bank in Bergen. When the money has been deposited you will receive a confirmation of the deposit/receipt issued by the bank. This confirmation/receipt is one of the required documents which must be enclosed with the application for a residence permit.
